March 26, 2008

Washington, DC -- Congressman David Davis today announced that the Upper East Tennessee Human Development Agency has been awarded $4,432,119 for the promotion of Head Start Projects in the area.  The grant is administered through the Department of Health and Human Services.  Congressman Davis released the following statement:

This grant gives the Upper East Tennessee Human Development Agency the materials needed to promote Head Start Projects here in the First District,” said Davis.

"Head Start is a program that provides education, nutrition, and health information to at risk children and families.  The Upper East Tennessee Human Development Agency and Head Start have been a solid foundation for building a great community and I thank all of the leaders who have a hand in Head Start.”

Children between the ages of three and five whose families meet the Federal poverty guidelines are eligible for Head Start programs.
