U.S. House Republican Conference votes overwhelmingly to stand against Senate Immigration bill

June 26, 2007

Washington, DC -- Congressman David Davis joined his U.S. House Republican Conference colleagues today in voting against the Senate immigration bill.

“The Republicans in the U.S. House have heard the American people,” Congressman David Davis said. “The Republican Conference has made the decision to stand against the illegal immigration legislation being discussed in the Senate.

“It is not in the best interest of the First District and America for this legislation to advance in its current form. Illegal means illegal. Amnesty in any form is not an option.

“The Republicans in the House are banding together to stand strong for America. We have heard from our constituents and want them to know where we stand.

“I am proud to stand with my fellow colleagues against amnesty and an illegal immigration bill that will do more harm in its current form than good.”
