Washington, DC -- Congressman David Davis announced and approval of a USDA Rural Development Water and Waste Disposal Direct Loan in the amount of $240,000 to the Watauga River Regional Water Authority.
“A major concern for residents is meeting the basic need of clean water and the proper disposal of wastewater,” Congressman David Davis said. “I am pleased for this development for the residents of Elizabethton.”
Rural Development funds will be used to purchase the North Elizabethton Water Co-op Inc. The North Elizabethton Water Co-op has struggled for many years with high water loss, financial difficulties, and management problems. This project will allow a different organization to take over the financial and operational management of the Co-op with its 872 existing customers. The project is on the Tennessee Rural Development Community Needs Assessment.
