Washington, DC -- Congressman David Davis voted in favor of reduced spending and lower taxes by casting a ‘no’ vote on the budget proposed by the majority party.
“This new budget is the largest tax increase in American history,” Congressman Davis said. “Over 5 years, there are almost $400 billion new dollars are in this budget. That money will have to come from someone and that someone is the taxpayer.
“According to “Friends of American Tax Reform’, in the First District, we will have to pay on average $2,611 more in taxes than last year,” Congressman Davis said. “This budget is poor policy for Tennessee and poor policy for America.
“I am deeply concerned that congress is raising taxes on the middle-class and harming small businesses, through expanding the government by enormous levels.
“I support President Bush’s budget, which in 5 years will be balanced, without raising taxes. His budget also has increases for education and healthcare.”
