Washington, DC -- Today Congressman David Davis voted against H.R. 1591 which would cause a premature removal of the U.S. Military from the Global War on Terror.
“This legislation had many harmful components,” Congressman Davis said. “It includes a time-line of withdrawal of our men and women in uniform. We do not need to have a time line handed to the terrorists. The terrorist are watching. They will wait us out and prevail. This is not the solution to ending the Global War on terror. “H.R. 1591 is filled with pet pork projects that do not belong in an emergency funding bill for the war. Each of these expenditures should be examined on their own merits, not be part of an emergency funding bill for our troops. “I am concerned that the majority is forcing these projects into this bill to purchase votes for their destructive bill. “We have one Commander-In-Chief, not 535 members of Congress. This bill micro-manages our efforts and ties the hands of our military leaders. “This sends the wrong message to our troops and to the terrorists and I urge President Bush to veto this bill.”
