Congressman David Davis applauds USDA decision in favor of Johnson County; questions potential closure of Carter, Sevier County FSA Offices

December 19, 2007

Washington, DC -- Congressman David Davis has commended the decision of the United States Department of Agriculture, Farm Service Agency (FSA), in their recent decision to keep the Johnson County Office open.

“It is important for farmers to have access to their Farm Service Agency office,” Congressman David Davis said. “Because of the geography of Johnson County I am pleased to see the agency reversed their decision.

“However, I was disappointed to see that the Carter County & Sevier County offices will not remain open. Especially since the closure will not result in any appreciable taxpayer savings, only increase the burden on our farmers.”
