Congressman Davis and Senator Alexander Announce Grant to East Tennessee State University College of Pharmacy

Washington, DC -- Senator Lamar Alexander and Congressman David Davis today announced that East Tennessee State University College of Pharmacy has been awarded $243,000 for facilities and equipment. The grant is administered through the Health Resources and Services Administration.

“I am pleased to see the Health Resources and Services Administration supporting East Tennessee State University College of Pharmacy by making this grant available,” said Davis.  “This grant will undoubtedly help ETSU College of Pharmacy provide its students an excellent and innovative education which will ultimately benefit the rural Appalachian community and Tennessee’s First District,” Davis added.

Senator Lamar Alexander added the following, “this award helps the students and faculty at ETSU’s College of Pharmacy continue their mission of improving the health and quality of life for residents in Northeast Tennessee and rural Appalachia,” Alexander said.  “I appreciate the leadership of Congressman Davis in securing this award, and look forward to hearing more good news from the ETSU College of Pharmacy.”

Dr. Larry Calhoun, Dean of East Tennessee State University College of Pharmacy added the following, "Congressman Davis stepped forward very early to voice his support for establishing a College of Pharmacy at ETSU.  A resident of this area, he clearly understands the greatness this pharmacy school will bring to his own hometown region as well as the state and nation. We are very proud to have him as our representative at the nation's Capitol, and we are honored that he was able to direct federal support to program that is so vital to the future of health care."
