Washington, DC -- Washington, D.C. – Congressman David Davis has co-sponsored H.R. 2927 and H.R. 3059, both will increase Corporate Average Fuel Economy (C.A.F.E.) standards and fuel efficiency for automobiles.
“I believe, that an increase in the C.A.F.E. standards for passenger cars and light trucks is necessary and must be approached with common-sense,” Congressman David Davis said. “I have cosponsored two bills that will increase the C.A.F.E. standards while maintaining consumer choice.”
H.R. 2927 sets the overall fuel economy at 32-35 miles per gallon by 2022. It also leaves separate regulations in place for cars and “light trucks,” such as sport utility vehicles.
H.R. 3059 sets the overall C.A.F.E. standard for cars from 27.5 miles per gallon to 35 miles per gallon by 2022 and increases the standard for light trucks (including SUV’s) to 27.5 miles per gallon by the same date.
“There are many ways to approach our energy crisis in America,” Congressman David Davis said. “Increased fuel economy standards combined with sensible use of alternative energy and domestic energy production will work to lessen our energy crisis.”
