April 16, 2007

Washington, DC -- Congressman David Davis announced today a National Endowment for the Arts grant to Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in the amount of $10,000 to support the final phase of a comprehensive, online, digital archive of the schools permanent collection.

“Arrowmont has a long tradition of supporting the creativity that makes the First District so distinctive,” Congressman David Davis said. “Their dedication to education and art preservation provides long-lasting benefits. This money will help complete a valuable historical archive of traditions cherished by the First District.”

The school’s collection of more than 725 objects acquired over the past 90 years represents a variety of craft traditions, and has the potential to be a great resource and teaching tool. Arrowmont is located in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
