Washington, DC -- {Congressman David Davis announced today a series of U.S. Department of Homeland Security Assistance Firefighters Grants to various Volunteer Fire Departments throughout the First District.
“Our first responders are fundamental to a safe society,” Congressman David Davis said. “In the First District, we are fortunate to have great men and women who work hard everyday to serve their community.”
• The Camp Creek Volunteer Fire Department located in Greeneville will receive $33,573 designated for Operations and Safety.
• The Catons Chapel Richardson Cove Volunteer Fire Department located in Sevierville will receive $109,250 for Vehicle Acquisition.
• The Seymour Volunteer Fire Department will receive $71,046 designated for Operations and Safety.
• The Shady Valley Volunteer Fire Department will receive $10,574 designated for Operations and Safety.
• The First District Volunteer Fire Department located in Laurel Bloomery will receive $7,600 designated for Operations and Safety.
• The Surgoinsville Volunteer Fire Department will receive $83,520 designated for Operations and Safety.
The purpose of the AFG program is to award grants directly to fire departments. These awards aim to enhance first responder’s ability to protect the health and safety of the public as well as that of first responder personnel, with respect to fire-related hazards.
