Issues-Traditional Values

Whether it is preserving God in our Nation or protecting the sanctity of life, I have worked hard to preserve the traditional American values that the people of Tennessee’s First District pride themselves upon. I have co-sponsored the following bills that defend our traditional values:

• H.J. Res 11. Proposes an amendment to the Constitution allowing voluntary prayer in schools.
  
• H.R. 2510. This bill requires “In God We Trust” to appear on the face of the new $1 coins.
  
• H.Res. 783. This requires the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to allow the 13 point flag folding recital at all funerals.
  
• H.R. 3779. This requires the Architect of the Capitol to permit the acknowledgement of God on flag certificates it issues.
  
• H.R. 618, the “Right to Life Act.” This gives the right to life to unborn children.
  
• H.R. 1295, the “Parental Notification and Intervention Act.” This requires parental notification in the case of a minor seeking an abortion.
  
• H.R. 5032, the “Ultrasound Informed Consent Act.” This requires a woman seeking an abortion the opportunity to receive and review an ultrasound prior to consent to have the abortion.
