Issues-Taxes

Throughout my time in Congress, I have been an advocate of lowering taxes and fighting for the American taxpayer. In 2006, I signed the Americans for Tax Reform Pledge which commits signers to “oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses.” This is why I have signed on to the following bills:

• H.R. 60. This legislation makes permanent the deduction of state and local sales taxes on federal returns.
  
• H.R. 471. This legislation repeals the sunset provisions placed on the tax cuts enacted in 2001. Without this sunset repeal taxes will increase by $300 billion in 2011.
  
• H.R. 2380. This makes permanent the death tax repeal. In 2011 the rate goes back to 55%.
